Board Treasurer

ARIVVA is an active non-profit community-based organization focused on catalytic visual art education and workforce training. We are committed to transforming the lives of disengaged and marginalized high school students and young adults in Pierce County’s most challenged neighborhoods through no-cost opportunities in an environment they need to learn, grow, become self-sufficient, and build sustainable economic futures.

Arivva’s accomplished Board of Directors is recruiting a fiscally-minded new member to also serve as Board Treasurer. This is an opportunity to fill an important role on an active and collaborative board.

We are looking for a Board Treasurer whose role would include: ▪ Having familiarity with understanding Financial Reports: Help the Board to review financial documents and understand situations with fiscal insight; ▪ Guiding the Board and Executive Director, working with an external accountant, to follow ‘best practice’ standards; ▪ Helping the Board to identify performance metrics (financial and non-financial) relevant to the organization’s strategic direction; and ▪ Serving as chair of the Finance Committee, advising its activities and various strategies.

General Responsibilities: Attend monthly board and committee meetings (via Zoom), sit on the Board’s Executive and Finance Committees, and actively contribute to the organization’s vibrancy.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate: ▪ Prior experience with bookkeeping, accounting, financial management, or related industry, CPA preferred; ▪ Knowledge of accounting standards for not-for-profit/charitable organizations; ▪ Willing to support fundraising for Arivva through ideas, contacts, and awareness; ▪ Passion for the organization’s mission to serve and a high standard of personal ethics; and ▪ Strong communication and networking skills and success in working within a diverse team.

Volunteer candidates should apply with a letter of interest. Subject: Arivva Board Treasurer, Volunteer, info@arivva.org.
